Students in 6th-12th grades are invited to join in this summer on a Summer Mission Trip to Detroit, MI! The trip dates are July 6th-13th. Come serve alongside local Detroit organizations as we help make meals for the homeless, work with a special needs community at a camp, and do other projects along the way. This Mission Trip will be different in a number of ways but we are praying and believe it will be so impactful. We will be WITH people and in the community where we are serving. We will come home with stories of individual people we served and hopefully lives changed because of this trip!
We will have the opportunity to work with and for the special needs and neurodivergent community at Dutton Farm. We will be working with the adults and the camp doing projects such as light construction projects and camp maintenance. We will also be working with a homeless ministry in downtown Detroit cooking and serving a meal for a hurting community. We are working with a Mission Agency called Mission Serve. They are helping us plan and design our trip to the Metro Detroit Area. They have been instrumental in setting up these two projects and they are working to set up even more projects as we get closer to our Mission Trip date.
We will be staying at and taking over a church in Sterling Heights, Michigan as our home base. This is awesome because we will have the building to ourselves. It's air conditioned, has an indoor gym, and plenty of space for teaching and small groups. We will need each Mission Trip participant to buy an air mattress for sleeping. We will send a link out for the specific air mattress to buy for the sake of van space.
We will do the trip out to Detroit in one day and we will come back in two. We will stay at a hotel about halfway home. The hotel cost is included in the Mission Trip cost. The trip is $750 but if you register before January 19th the cost will be $650.
